211—Calgary’s Community Connection for Flood Recovery
Calgary residents seeking information on programs and services available, information on where to volunteer or where to donate can access it through one easy call to 211.
211 is an easy to remember 3 digit phone number that, in one call, connects people to a full range of community, health, government, and social services information. 211 is free, confidential, multilingual and available 24 hours a day.
With 311 and 911 services understandably busy responding to flood information and emergencies, it is important that Calgarians direct information and referral calls for community programs and services to 211.
In addition to the Calgary citizens impacted, many social service agencies have also been evacuated or had their services interrupted by the floods and power outages. 211 is working diligently to collect the accurate and up to date information on what services continue to be available to offer support during the flood recovery.
In order to help respond to Calgarians affected by the flooding, 211 Calgary is asking for social service agencies to email email@example.com with the following information:
- if they are open or closed;
- if open, what services and supports are being provided;
- any needs the organization has for maintaining and providing service (may include volunteer or donation requests) 211 will not meet the need, but will share the information with callers);
- a contact person/point for the organization.
